Maiden Kayak Voyage

So, it begins.

H1 and I talked about trying something new.  We both enjoy water and wanted something that would also offer some sort of exercise while being relaxing.  We tossed around the ideas of a paddle boat, a canoe... kayaks.

We settled on kayaks.  Two blue kayaks.

After diligently (or obsessively) researching, we found a couple of modestly priced boats with high weight capacity.
[ let me interject here.... I am not a featherweight, nor am I fond of drowning or large fish.  Yes, I can swim quite well, as can H1.  However, I do not wish to play in deep water while not knowing what is swimming below me]
Anyway, we found a couple of kayaks at a home-improvement store and decided to make the investment.  Decent reviews.  Viper , 10'4" sit-in models with a weight capacity of 275lbs.

This is where it all began.

Our maiden voyage took us to a local lake.  I will get into the specifics of this beautiful place in a bit  but we fell in love with kayaking right away.  Yes, it was scary and difficult to find our balance and even exasperating to try to get in and out of those little boats but totally worth it.  Here is H1 taking a short paddle near the shore.

So, there you have it.  How it all began... for the most part.  My goal is to share the lakes we visit with a little information on each.  Give you a "kayak-eye-view" of our paddling adventures here in Wisconsin.
